We wanted to keep you informed about the current UK situation with paddleboarding by giving you a run down of the official information released by the various governing bodies.
We’d advise a cautious return to paddling. Stay safe and within the guidelines, as with all exercise and outdoor activity right now. If heading out solo make sure you let people know where and when you are going and when you are due back.
Please note: The below mentioned bodies currently apply to England only.
“Following government advice, angling and canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding for exercise, can resume from Wednesday 13 May, but this must be on your own or with members of your household, and shouldn’t be for long distances as navigation is still restricted. In all instances, social distancing must be maintained at all times, keeping your distance from both other people and moored boats.“
“Following changes in Government guidance for England, which allows people to travel to the coast and use the water, many people may choose to participate in water-based activities such as swimming, kayaking, surfing, boating and angling from Wednesday.
The charity is warning beach visitors that at present there are no RNLI lifeguards on beaches and although our volunteer lifeboat crews are fully operational, should they be needed, it is important that anyone visiting the coast understands the risk and takes the necessary steps to keep themselves safe.”
“The easing of lockdown measures in England announced yesterday, have paved the way for paddling to start again in England from Wednesday 13 May, so long as government guidelines around social distancing are followed and the waterways authorities have opened up their waterways.“
